Plant a tree. Meet a neighbor. Grow a town.
Put Down Roots Tualatin is the city's volunteer tree planting and stewardship program, delivered in partnership with Friends of Trees. The next work party is Wednesday, October 14 from 9 to 11 AM at the Tualatin Greenway Trail entrance on SW Natchez Court, minutes from 22379 SW 107th Ave.
Put Down Roots Tualatin is the City of Tualatin's volunteer tree planting program, run in partnership with Friends of Trees. Throughout the year, volunteers plant and mulch native trees and shrubs in the city's parks, trails, wetlands, and greenways, restoring habitat and keeping Tualatin green.
Work parties run rain or shine, and the city provides tools, supplies, plants, a light snack, and water. Volunteers just bring a water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes, and dress in layers. Advance registration is required, and the program welcomes adults, kids, teens, and older adults, so it works as a family outing or a solo morning of fresh air.
What to Expect
Two hours that change the trail.
Native trees and shrubs
Work parties plant and mulch native species that support local birds, pollinators, and stream health along the city's greenways and wetlands.
All ages welcome
Adults, kids, teens, and older adults all take part. The city supplies the tools and the know-how, so no gardening experience is needed.

The October Work Party
Stewardship along the greenway.
The October 14 work party focuses on restoring habitat along the Tualatin Greenway Trail, the paved riverside route that connects much of Tualatin's outdoor life. Volunteers meet at the trail entrance at 4554 SW Natchez Ct and spend the morning planting and mulching under the city's guidance.
It is a short drive from 22379 SW 107th Ave, and a satisfying way to see the greenway up close while giving back to it. Registration is required in advance through the city's volunteer page.
Why It Matters
The greenway is a neighborhood asset.
The Tualatin River Greenway Trail is one of the reasons people move here. Our greenway and riverfront guide covers the newest connections, and the community spirit guide looks at how Tualatin neighbors show up for each other all year.
More volunteer dates, city events, and registration links live on the Tualatin events calendar. Mark October 14 and come plant a tree.
