November in Tualatin: book sales, tree planting, and the first holiday lights.
November in Tualatin is a quiet month that gathers momentum: the Friends of the Library book sale, a volunteer tree planting on Saum Creek, the Veterans Recognition Breakfast, and then the first holiday lights before December's parades, all minutes from 22379 SW 107th Ave.
October in Tualatin peaks with the Giant Pumpkin Regatta, but November is when the community settles back into itself. The pumpkin patches wind down, the farmers markets close for the season, and the calendar fills with library fundraisers, volunteer days, and the first unmistakable signs of the holidays. It is also, for prospective buyers, one of the most revealing months to walk a neighborhood and see how a community lives in its off-season.
Here is what is on the Tualatin calendar this November, with dates from the City of Tualatin and the Tualatin Public Library. The full, always-updated list lives on the local events page.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
Friday, November 6 (members preview 2-3 PM, public 3-6 PM) and Saturday, November 7, 10 AM-4 PM
The twice-yearly Friends of the Tualatin Library book sale fills the Community Room and lobby with gently used books, media, and more, with proceeds supporting library programs. Members preview first on Friday at 2 PM; the public joins at 3 PM.
Super Saturday: Harvest Tree craft
Saturday, November 7, 2-3 PM, Makerspace
A free kids' craft for grades K-5 in the library Makerspace, where young makers build their own harvest tree to take home. A nice pairing with the book sale happening the same day, one floor away.
Put Down Roots: Saum Creek planting
Saturday, November 7, 9 AM-12 PM, Atfalati Park
A volunteer morning with Friends of Trees planting native trees and shrubs along Saum Creek to restore riparian habitat. Tools, gloves, and guidance are provided; a rewarding way to give back before the rain sets in.
National Family Volunteer Day
Saturday, November 21, 9 AM-12 PM, locations across Tualatin
The City of Tualatin organizes family-friendly service projects across town, from park clean-ups to community planting, designed to be accessible for volunteers of all ages. A meaningful introduction to community service for kids.
Veterans Recognition Breakfast
Mid-November, date announced by the city, Juanita Pohl Center
Tualatin's flagship Veterans Day observance: a catered morning breakfast where veterans eat for free, the mayor emcees, and speakers represent service eras from World War II through today. The Veterans Plaza at Lake of the Commons offers a quiet place to remember year-round.
Thanksgiving weekend
Thursday, November 26 and the long weekend around it
The Oregon Turkeython and Give n' Gobble runs kick off Thanksgiving morning nearby, and local kitchens from Elmer's to Brix Tavern handle the cooking for those who want it done for them.
The pivot to the holidays
When Tualatin starts to glow.
Late November is when the holiday season officially begins around Tualatin. Lee Farms opens its choose-and-cut Christmas tree lot, and The Neighborhood Church switches on its free Nativity Lights walk-through display on winter Fridays and Saturdays, a favorite family tradition that runs through mid-December. Over at Bridgeport Village, just across the border, the annual holiday parade and Santa's arrival kick off the shopping season.
The headline act arrives in early December, when the Tualatin Light Parades wind through the neighborhoods on three consecutive nights, December 4-6, led by Santa, the police, and fire and rescue. November is the perfect time to plan for them: pick a route, invite the neighbors, and get the thermoses ready.
