Mini pumpkins hidden among autumn leaves along a park trail
Family & Community / September 18, 2026

The Tualatin Pumpkin Hunt: 250 pumpkins hidden around town.

From October 9 through 31, volunteers will hide 250 mini pumpkins in Tualatin's parks and trails. Find one and you can keep it or re-hide it, and 20 special golden pumpkins win Regatta prize packages.

The Tualatin Pumpkin Hunt is the city's free, all-ages scavenger hunt run by Tualatin Parks and Recreation. Between October 9 and October 31, volunteer "stealthy volunteers" hide small pumpkins around Tualatin's parks and along its trails, and anyone can go looking. Find a pumpkin and you can take it home or hide it again for the next person; the fun is in the hunt either way.

The real prize sits among the 250: 20 special GOLDEN pumpkins. Find one of those and you win a special West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta prize package, redeemable by turning the golden pumpkin in at the Juanita Pohl Center. Full rules and details live on the City of Tualatin Pumpkin Hunt page.

How it works

A month-long treasure hunt.

When it runs

October 9-31, 2026

Pumpkins are hidden each week through the month, so there is always a fresh batch to find. The hunt ends October 31, giving families something to do across the whole lead-up to Halloween and the Regatta.

Where the pumpkins hide

Parks and trails across Tualatin

Pumpkins turn up in city parks and along the trail network around town. For residents of the south side, that includes the parks and greenway trails nearest 22379 SW 107th Ave, a pleasant October walk from home.

Keep it or re-hide it

The finder's choice

Finders may take a pumpkin home or tuck it back somewhere for another family to discover. The re-hide spirit keeps the hunt alive all month long, and it is a gentle lesson in sharing the fun.

The golden pumpkins

20 winners, Regatta prize packages

Of the 250 hidden pumpkins, 20 are golden. Finding one wins a West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta prize package, and golden pumpkins are turned in at the Juanita Pohl Center to claim it.

October in Tualatin

The perfect warmup to Regatta weekend.

The hunt slots neatly into the busiest month on Tualatin's calendar. Its finale lands right at the Giant Pumpkin Regatta weekend, October 17-18, when costumed competitors race giant pumpkin boats across the Lake of the Commons and the Rotary 5K winds through town. Families can spend the month hunting mini pumpkins, then watch the giant ones float.

It is also a wonderful way to explore the neighborhood before you commit to it. The hunt gives prospective buyers a reason to walk the parks and trails around a listing, feel the community rhythm, and see how Tualatin's families fill the fall weeks with free, outdoor fun. Full details, including any rule updates, are on the city's recreation page, and the local events guide tracks the rest of the fall calendar.
