From the award-winning playground at Ibach Park to the Tualatin River Greenway and the nearby Wildlife Refuge, outdoor recreation in Tualatin is exceptional. Here is your guide to the best parks and trails in and around town.
One of the first things newcomers notice about Tualatin is just how much green space there is. The city has invested heavily in its parks and trail systems, creating a network of outdoor spaces that serve everyone, from families with young children to serious trail runners and wildlife enthusiasts.
The home at 22379 SW 107th Ave is especially well positioned for outdoor living. Ibach Park is just a short walk away, the Tualatin River Greenway is minutes by bike, and the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is a quick drive south. Whether you are looking for a place to walk the dog, take the kids to the playground, or paddle a kayak on a quiet river, Tualatin delivers.
A Short Walk from Home
Ibach Park.
Ibach Park is the neighborhood green space that serves the SW 107th Ave area, and it is an absolute gem. The playground is award-winning, with a nature-themed design that includes climbing structures, slides, and sensory play elements that children love. Open grassy fields provide space for picnics, frisbee, and impromptu soccer games, while paved walking paths wind through the park for a loop around the property.
The park features covered picnic shelters, benches, and a community garden. It is the kind of place where neighbors run into each other, kids make friends at the playground, and the rhythm of daily life unfolds under the shade of mature oak and maple trees.
Along the Tualatin River
Tualatin River Greenway & Browns Ferry Park.
The Tualatin River Greenway is a multi-use trail that follows the river through Tualatin, connecting several parks and natural areas. The trail is paved and mostly flat, making it accessible for walking, running, biking, and strollers. The section from Tualatin Community Park through Browns Ferry Park to the Durham City Park boundary offers a scenic 2.8-mile out-and-back route with river views, riparian habitat, and plenty of benches for taking a break.
Browns Ferry Park at 5855 SW Nyberg Ln is the hub for water access on the Tualatin River. In summer, Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe Rentals operates from here through Labor Day, offering kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards for exploring the Tualatin River National Water Trail. The park also has a boat launch, picnic areas, and sports fields, making it a popular spot for family outings.
Urban Wildlife Sanctuary
Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.
Just south of Tualatin, the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge spans nearly 1,900 acres of protected wetlands, forests, and riparian habitats. It is an urban wildlife refuge, meaning it sits within the Portland metro area yet provides critical habitat for nearly 200 bird species, plus deer, river otters, beavers, and other wildlife.
The refuge offers several walking trails, including accessible boardwalks through the wetlands and a 3.2-mile seasonal trail loop that opens when conditions permit. Late summer, with the days still long and warm, is an excellent time to visit. Watch for great blue herons, red-winged blackbirds, and osprey hunting over the water. The visitor center at 19255 SW Pacific Hwy in Sherwood provides trail maps and a small nature store.
