A family teriyaki shop that has fed Tualatin for 25 years.
Mashita Teriyaki at 18810 SW Boones Ferry Rd has been serving Korean-inspired teriyaki from the same family since 2001. Flame-kissed chicken, generous portions, and a lunch special that has made it a neighborhood institution, minutes from 22379 SW 107th Ave.
Mashita Teriyaki is a small, family-owned teriyaki shop on the Boones Ferry Road corridor, and the family behind it has been feeding Tualatin for a quarter of a century. Charles and Sunhee Bahng bought the place in 2001 and have run it ever since, serving what regulars call some of the most consistent teriyaki in the Portland area.
The food is Korean-inspired even though the word teriyaki sounds Japanese, and the owners are upfront about that heritage. The sauces and flavors reflect Korean roots, and the cooking style leans on a hot, fast sear that gives the signature chicken its lightly charred edges. It is a detail that has kept people coming back for decades, and some customers drive from as far as Salem and Vancouver for the plates served here.

The lunch special
$13, Monday-Saturday 11 AM-2 PM

The story
From Korea to a Boones Ferry storefront.
Charles and Sunhee Bahng moved to the United States from Korea in 1993 and bought their small Tualatin teriyaki shop from a local couple in 2001. What started as a modest storefront turned into a fixture: the shop has now been in the family for about 25 years, and the generous, consistent cooking is the reason why.
The current address is not the shop's first home. After eight years on an earlier Boones Ferry Road spot, the city widened the road and took the building by eminent domain, forcing the move to the present location at 18810 SW Boones Ferry Rd. The Bahngs rebuilt the business from scratch, and the loyalty of their regulars carried them through.
The family gives back to the community that kept them going. During the 2020 Oregon wildfires, Mashita delivered thousands of meals to firefighters working long shifts, a gesture neighbors still talk about. It is the kind of small-business story that explains why Tualatin feels like a community rather than just a suburb.
What to order
Teriyaki, yakisoba, and more.
Chicken teriyaki
$11, served with rice and vegetables
The signature dish: chicken seared hot until the edges char, then glazed with the house teriyaki sauce. Reviewers consistently call it the best value plate on the menu, and it is the dish behind most of the shop's repeat business.
Yakisoba
$12 chicken, $11 veggie
Regulars say Mashita has some of the best chicken yakisoba in the area, with chewy noodles, crisp vegetables, and the same char-forward sauce treatment as the teriyaki. The veggie version is a quiet favorite among meatless regulars.
Beef and spicy options
Beef teriyaki $12, hot and spicy chicken, spicy pork
Beyond the classics, the menu adds hot and spicy chicken, spicy pork teriyaki, chicken katsu, and tofu teriyaki, so there is a plate for every mood. Pair any entree with gyoza or an egg roll as a side.
Bento combos and sides
Bento platters, pot stickers, egg rolls
Bento combinations bundle a main with rice, vegetables, and a couple of sides for a complete meal in a box. Crisp, well-seasoned pot stickers are the side most regulars order, alongside the low prices that make it an easy weekly stop.
What neighbors say
A roughly 4.6-star reputation, earned plate by plate.
Mashita holds roughly a 4.6-star rating on Yelp with more than 380 reviews, and the themes repeat: generous portions that stretch into a second meal, a spotless and homey dining room, and owners who recognize regulars by name. The warm service is as much a draw as the food, which is rare at this price point.
The shop pairs naturally with the rest of the Boones Ferry corridor, from the breweries and diners covered in our craft beer guide to the roundup in best restaurants in Tualatin. For current hours and the full menu, check the Mashita Teriyaki website.
