Tualatin's Juanita Pohl Center, refreshed for fall.

The city's Active Aging Center reopened in June 2026 after a full interior renovation, and its fall lineup of day trips, fitness classes, and social programs is now open for registration.

The Juanita Pohl Center, Tualatin's Active Aging Center at 8513 SW Tualatin Rd inside Tualatin Community Park, reopened Monday, June 1, 2026 after a month of interior renovations. The project brought ADA-compliant front doors, new interior doors, updated cabinets and countertops, fresh carpet, paint, and blinds, and upgraded LED lighting throughout. Programs temporarily ran from the Van Raden Community Center while work was underway; now the familiar building on Tualatin Road is back and brighter than ever.

For anyone weighing a move to Tualatin, the center is a clear sign of how the city invests in life at every age. It is run by the City of Tualatin and sits in a multigenerational complex alongside the Van Raden Community Center, so a grandparent can be in a Tai Chi class while kids are across the way, all within minutes of 22379 SW 107th Ave.

Fall 2026 lineup

Trips, classes, and coffee with neighbors.

The fall calendar is a good mix of get-out-of-town adventure and everyday routine. Day trips this season include a visit to the Mt. Pisgah Mushroom Festival and an outing to the Next Level Pinball and Pop Culture destination, both a change of scene that feels like a full day out without the planning. Closer to home, the weekly Coffee and Conversations gatherings on Thursday mornings give neighbors a standing reason to connect.

Fitness programming runs the range from SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit to Tai Chi, Gentle Yoga, Zumba, line dancing, strength and stretch, Nia, and Boomer Boot Camp. Beyond fitness, the center hosts lifelong learning like Community Conversations, cooking and nutrition workshops, computer and billiards rooms, and a meal program, plus space to rent for private events of up to 160 people.

The practical side of aging is covered too, with fall prevention and balance-testing programs that fit with National Fall Prevention Month. For families looking at Tualatin, this depth of programming is a real quality-of-life detail: it means parents and grandparents have a community the day they arrive, not years down the road.

A community for every age

One park, generations of neighbors.

The center sits inside Tualatin Community Park, which already anchors many of Tualatin's best outdoor days with its river access, trails, and picnic shelters. That park-and-center pairing is part of why Tualatin consistently reads as a friendly, livable town, whether you are raising kids, settling into retirement, or somewhere in between.

The city's broader events calendar and seasonal celebrations, from the farmers market at the Commons to the Giant Pumpkin Regatta, keep that community spirit going year-round. Longtime residents and newcomers alike find their place quickly, and a center like this is a big reason why.
