Getting to Portland without the parking hunt.

Tualatin sits about 11 to 13 miles south of downtown Portland, and whether you ride WES, catch a TriMet express bus,or drive I-5, there are credible ways to make the trip, with free-flow drive times of about 20-25 minutes when traffic behaves.

When buyers ask about living in Tualatin, commute time is usually question one. Downtown Portland is roughly 20-25 minutes by car when traffic flows freely, and often 30-45 minutes or more at peak hours. With a mix of rail, express buses, and highways, there is a credible no-car option for many weekday commutes.

The commute picture matters for anyone choosing a home, and the neighborhood around 22379 SW 107th Ave sits close to two ready transit assets: the WES station on Boones Ferry Road and the I-5 corridor itself. Here is how the pieces fit together.

Ride the rail

WES commuter rail stops right in Tualatin.

The Tualatin station

The WES (Westside Express Service( station sits at 18955 SW Boones Ferry Road, about a 10-minute drive from 22379 SW 107th Ave. It runs weekdays during peak commute hours between Beaverton Transit Center and Wilsonville, stopping at Hall/Nimbus,Tigard Transit Center,Tualatin, and Wilsonville.

Where the train takes you

WES does not run directly to downtown Portland. Riders take it north to Beaverton Transit Center and transfer to MAX light rail into the city center,a typical trip of about 42 minutes total train plus tram. A free Tualatin Shuttle( operated by Ride Connection( carries commuters between the station and local employers.

Best for regular weekday commutes

WES schedules to serve nine-to-five riders,so it is ideal for steady weekday commutes and less useful for evening events or weekend trips into town. Check the current timetable before planning around it.

A future MAX connection

There is no MAX light rail stop in Tualatin itself. The proposed Southwest Corridor MAX extension would eventually bring light rail closer to the area, but it has not been built yet, which is why many commuters pair driving with the I-5 express bus instead.
